I'm pleased to announce that the poster "Sugar Sucks!" created for the Najsłodsi Foundation has been selected for the prestigious publication American Illustration 41, showcasing the best work by illustrators from around the world. From among 7,000 submitted works, the jury selected 443 by 279 authors.

When, in the early 1930s, Melchior Wańkowicz was commissioned to create a slogan promoting sugar, he had no idea he would create one of the greatest advertising hoaxes in history. Sugar strengthens – a slogan familiar to anyone slightly older. The large-scale promotional campaign showcased how sugar strengthens bones, adds strength to athletes, and even improves potency. It's simply a cure-all.
Now, Michał Figurski has tasked me with tackling this advertising monster and creating a poster supporting the Sweetest Foundation's activities. Along the way, I've come up with a slogan that beats Wańkowicz in brevity and challenges harmful stereotypes.
November 14th is World Diabetes Day. Check out the Najsłodsi Foundation's Facebook page. They're doing good, without the unnecessary sugar.

Here's a video of the poster being made:
